THE TRANSPARENCY IN LITERATURE
Transparency is one of the greatest precepts of human value system. Literally, it implies openness in all our activities irrespective of our positions in life. It is presumed that the actions and the policies of any king or the elected government should be transparent, so that the citizenry had an access to whatever is happening at the top level. Same is expected from a shopkeeper to a business tycoon and all other fellows from all walks of life. This is necessary because ignorance is bliss for the illiterates and anti-social elements mainly as they try to spread confusion in the society for their own benefit. Lack of transparency at the government level is more fatal. Often it leads to insurgency, revolt and even change of governments. Public has a right to know what their elected representatives are doing and whether their actions are in the interest of the people and the country or not.
Similarly, the field of literature is not different from other walks of life. Transparency in literature means absolute honesty. A writer is a creator and he can not afford to be dishonest or a cheat. It is just like God who also creates with most of the pure and honest intentions. Whatever a writer creates is a mirror of his persona. If his intentions are not pure, his creations are not creations but mere writing, inane and lack lustered. Any vigilant reader can pinpoint the cheating easily.
One has to keep in mind always that creation implies purity and sincerity of purpose. It starts a dialogue instantly with the reader which further leads to reactions emanating from the mind of the reader. This is the litmus test for any writer -cum-creator. Thus a transparent creation always initiates a dialogue with the reader. Such creations may be termed as communicative creations.
The more important point is that of accountability. As a human being, a writer is morally bound to own responsibility for his writing. He is certainly accountable for his creations. If he cheats or plagiarize, then he is accountable for it and any punishment is insufficient for his act. Moreover, a creator has a special place amongst the multitude of human beings. He is revered, regarded and respected by all. So he should feel responsibility of sharing to the public only his honest creations and nothing else. Therefore, the writer-cum-creator are considered as flag bearers of transparency in literature. If they don't do it, they are liable for condemnation. Transparency in literature is most important because it moulds the public mind and public opinion. Let the writers do not digress from the path of piety and righteousness.
