Racial Equality – An article written by Omar Nasser
RACIAL EQUALITY
Historically, this is one issue that
occupies most minds, and is the
dream of every consciencious human being wishing for makind's
survival and continuum on Mother
Earth. Most constitutions echo its
importance to national cohesion,
unity and uniform progress of nations stressing the Bill of Rights,
the protection of Human Rights, the
rights of minority groups, children,
women and the disabled. The United Nations articulates, elaborates and stresses Racial Equality everywhere,
to solidify and assure social, economic, pulitical and cultural justice across the globe.
That wherever human beings live, all
must enjoy equal rights under the
law with access to shelter, food, clean water, education, health, the sanctity of life, the right to property, security and personal safety without regard to colour, religion, creeds,
race, ethics and other biases. For ages the world has learned bitter
lessons from the volatility of Racial Equality. Which is, often fragile and is not limited to one locality, society, community, nation, or continent.
Racial equality is a rallying call everywhere iniquities are in practice, and
myriads have suffered in the deadly
shadows of racism, tribalism, bigotry,
nepotism, all forms of discrimination,
and segregation often culminating in
devastating Xenophobia.
The advent of Adolf Hitler, Nazism,
fashism of Bonito Mussolini and the
and anti-semitic passion in Germany,
and hatred of Jews etc., poisoned
the many minds, so was Apartheid
South Africa which produced Nelson
Mandela and Mahatma Gandhi, both
fighters for South African Ingigenous
Africans and Indian right respectively
agaist white supremacists. The Clan
Cults, likes the (Ku-Klux-Klan) in the
US, and discrimination against the
blacks and indigenous peoples gave
birth to Martin Luther King, who indefatgably struggled for equal rights, till
his assassination, down to the caste
system in India, besides atrocities of
the colonialists in Africa and elsewhere inculcating the doctrine of divide
and rule, our world has never been the same.
In the United States bad blood between blacks and whites is still on and off with frequent violence and deaths with the police on the spot for ruthlessly executing innocent blacks, and has culminated into wide-spread street protests across several states.
An issue that constantly puts innocent humans at cross-roads with ground reality. For not enough is being done to correct a highly inflammable situation that needs more than empty rhetoric to solve.
And as the situation gets worse in
highly competitive, selfish, monopolistic scenarios where nations furtively undermine one another, competing for markets, natural resources,
and strategic minerals to exploit,
each seeking domination over the
others, and the simple folk are caught in rhe crossfire, Racial Equality
within nations, and between people
all over becomes the bedrock for sustainable peace and stability everywhere. And, yes, though charity begins at home, we all, wherever we are,
deserve happiness which can only be derived from the values and virtues of peace, equity, equality, trust, honesty and Human Rights. Where
Racial Equality is the quintessence
of the wellbeing and welfare of HUMANITY AND FRATERNITY!
