TRANSPARENCY IN LITERATURE

Unassailably, no literature , individual, nation , government , society or corporate body and business can survive and thrive well without practising and giving credence to the nitty gritty of transparency ! Transparency is a sine qua non for any meaningful development either in the private life , public life or perhaps in the field of literature.

What then is Transparency ? What influence does it has on the literature? What is the significance of transparency to the public life and personal development ?

Transparency is described as the concept of openness , honesty and accountability. It's the principle of making one/ activity accessible to the public for their critical assessment , analysis , evaluation , appraisal and scrutiny, all in a bid to enhance and promote public trust and support. Transparency is succinctly and explicitly termed as clarity , clearness , limpidness and translucency.

Science , Engineering , Business , Humanities and all other social contexts are direct beneficiaries of either the negative or positive effects of transparency. This therefore, establishes the efficacy of transparency.

Transparency in literature also explains the policy of ensuring openness and accountability in the field of literature. The beauty of literature is displayed and enhanced when journals , reviews , articles , poems and stories are written primarily for other to see, read , study and learn new things or meet the immediate needs of those individuals in the business of literature.

2. It enhances unassailable integrity ; people hold you by your words and they believe in you
3. It gives no room for unnecessary suspicion

8. It promotes and encourages high productivity

IMPORTANCE OF TRANSPARENCY IN LITERATURE

I. MENTORSHIP

Transparency fosters better opportunity for mentorship and tutelage when individuals are allowed to write and such write ups are subjected to transparent and constructive criticism and correction without any prejudice or bias stance. Literature is best harnessed when people learn from one another.

II. SIMPLICITY

Transparency in the writing of articles , stories , reviews , poems all makes literature a cynosure of all eyes. Everyone embraces literature when it appears simple and easy to read and comprehend.

III. HEALTHY COMPETITION/MERIT CELEBRATION

Transparency in literature promotes healthy competition, individuals participate, learn from others' works and hitherto develop. Celebration of merit by the award of certificates promotes and encourages stakeholders in the field of literature to contribute more. This may not include those who crave for the acquisition of certificates alone.

IV. HONESTY

The advantage of transparency in literature is to promote honesty among the writers. This admonishes the need to write based on ones capacity without copying the works of others ( Plagiarism ) .

Summarily, if the culture of transparency is excellently imbibed by all and sundry at different facets of life, surely each benefit as mentioned above will not be a mirage in the desert but rather a reality.
